Texas courts (habeas corpus; exoneration). Elizabeth Ramirez, Cassandra Rivera, Kristie Mayhugh, and Anna Vasquez were convicted in the 1990s after a prosecution expert testified that the accusers' injuries were consistent with 'satanic ritual' abuse she claimed was common among lesbians — testimony she later retracted as based on discredited science. All four were released by 2013 and formally exonerated by a Texas court in November 2016.
