Sheriff Court, Scotland; Clyde Inquiry (official). In February 1991, social workers and police removed nine children from four South Ronaldsay families on allegations of organised Satanic abuse. A sheriff dismissed the case as fundamentally flawed, and the official Clyde Inquiry (1992) found the concept of 'ritual abuse' unwarranted, sharply criticised the authorities, noted no medical evidence of abuse, and the children were returned home.
