A later federal opinion records that a six-year-old child was chained in a packing crate as punishment at Solar Lodge's desert ranch, that four members received felony child-abuse convictions and three received misdemeanor convictions, and that group leader Jean Brayton later pleaded no contest to felony child abuse and received probation and a fine. The same opinion describes claims that Manson may have visited the group only as allegations in a disputed book; no Manson-Solar Lodge relationship is entered in this corpus.

This record and 1969-solar-lodge-boy-in-the-box-blythe-california-usa document the same 1969 event from the same single source, the federal opinion in Velle Transcendental Research Ass'n v. Sanders, 518 F. Supp. 512 (C.D. Cal. 1981). The other record is the record of reference: it pins precisely what the opinion supports and declines the widely circulated 56-day confinement claim. This entry is retained rather than deleted so the duplication is visible rather than silently removed, and because its summary carries the corpus's refusal of the alleged Manson connection. ON THE GROUP'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE ORDO TEMPLI ORIENTIS, WHICH THIS CORPUS DOES NOT RESOLVE: Solar Lodge's standing is contested and was never adjudicated. Phyllis Seckler, an Agape Lodge initiate, stated that Solar Lodge "was an O.T.O. Lodge". Against that, Ray Burlingame, who initiated Georgina "Jean" Brayton in 1962, held no charter to found lodges or initiate; a participant account states the group had no written charter from any Grand Master; Karl Germer had closed Agape Lodge in 1953 and never recognised Solar Lodge; and Grady McMurtry, reviving the OTO in 1969, could have recognised its initiations retroactively and did not. The claim of standing therefore rests on participant recollection rather than any institutional or judicial finding, and this record asserts neither regularity nor irregularity. The distinction is not merely historical: if the leaders' authority was chartered, the initiatory mechanism over members was materially stronger than if the group was self-constituted.
