Seventy-four deaths occurred in linked episodes from 1994 through 1997. Swiss reporting based on the investigations records that 20 of the 23 people at Cheiry were shot, while other deaths involved poisoning, fire or suicide; the principal instigators, Joseph Di Mambro and Luc Jouret, were among the dead. Michel Tabachnik was acquitted at trial and again on appeal because proof of responsibility was lacking. This dossier does not treat every death as voluntary or transfer culpability to an acquitted person, survivors, esoteric orders generally or modern Templar groups.
