    Independent Aufarbeitungskommission, Diocese of Würzburg, Germany. Wiesbaden attorney Hendrik Schneider, commissioned by the diocese's independent review commission, published a report identifying 51 accused persons (43 of them clergy) and 226 victims across 1945–2019. The report found that until around 2000 institutional self-protection took precedence over pursuing abuse allegations, so that only a small fraction of perpetrators were ever convicted; the diocese states it now refers all suspicions to prosecutors.
