    Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-2, Chattogram. The tribunal convicted madrasa teacher Riad Uddin of raping a nine-year-old student who had enrolled in the hifz (Quran-memorization) section three months earlier as a residential student, and sentenced him to life imprisonment with hard labour, a fine of 50,000 taka, and a further three months' imprisonment in default of payment. The assault occurred on the madrasa premises on 22 September 2022; the child disclosed it to his mother the next morning, and local residents surrounded the madrasa and detained the teacher before police arrived.
