A man presenting himself online as a ruqya (Islamic spiritual healing) expert was arrested after a university student in her 20s, grieving her father's death, reported that online sessions escalated to in-person meetings where he manipulated her psychologically, falsely promised marriage, and raped her, resulting in pregnancy; he filmed the encounters and used the footage to blackmail her. Investigators said the same tactics were used against multiple victims who were experiencing emotional distress.
