Jabir Ali, a teacher at a madrasa in Vengara, was convicted of raping a 12-year-old student inside the institution's bathroom on the morning of 21 April 2022. He was sentenced to a cumulative 86 years' rigorous imprisonment under multiple sections of the POCSO Act, with a fine of Rs 4.5 lakh.
