Qari Abdul Aziz, 60, was convicted under Section 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code and sentenced to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment plus a fine of one million rupees, for the attempted rape of a 10-year-old girl who attended his madrassah to learn the Quran. He was caught in the act by the girl's father and others who entered his room after she failed to return home from the madrassah.
