    Cour d'Assises de Bamako, Mali. A man identified in reporting as Y. Sissoko, acting in the capacity of marabout, was convicted by the Bamako Assize Court of the sexual abuse of a four-year-old girl in Lassa on 15 December 2018. He was sentenced to five years' imprisonment with a fine of 500,000 FCFA, 167,000 FCFA in medical costs and 600,000 FCFA in damages. He denied the offence at trial, claiming an earlier admission had been obtained under police torture.
