Albury was a youth pastor who used his position leading church youth ministry to gain trust with families and unsupervised access to their daughters; the first victim's parents 'welcomed him into their family' specifically because of his role as their church's youth pastor, and the subsequent victims were girls within the same congregational youth-ministry orbit.

A jury convicted youth pastor Colton Albury of two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two counts of indecent assault against a girl whose parents had welcomed him into their family at age 16. Senior Justice Bernard Turner sentenced him to eight years' imprisonment for unlawful sexual intercourse and four years for indecent assault, served concurrently, effective from his July 2022 remand.
