Audiencia Provincial de Valladolid (trial), Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Castilla y León (appeal), Spain. A priest of the Nuestra Señora de las Angustias parish in Valladolid was convicted of cyber-harassment of a minor under sixteen and sexual abuse of a minor under sixteen, after he began sexually explicit WhatsApp conversations in December 2019 with a thirteen-year-old parishioner, continuing until she was sixteen. He was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and barred from approaching the victim within 500 metres. The Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Castilla y León confirmed the sentence on appeal; he served time and was released on parole after three-quarters of the sentence.
