Poder Judicial del Estado de Guanajuato, Irapuato. Luis Esteban Zavala Rodríguez, priest of the Temple of Our Lady of Solitude in downtown Irapuato, was sentenced to 65 years and three months in prison for aggravated rape and corruption of a minor, after abusing a 12-year-old girl he was giving catechism classes to between April and June 2019. He was ordered to pay damages to the victim and her mother. Press reported he was the third priest of the Diocese of Irapuato prosecuted for sexual crimes against minors in under three years.
