Kawabata Takakazu, priest of Samuhara Shrine, convicted of quasi-forcible indecent assault (準強制わいせつ罪) against women who came to the shrine for prayer between December 2020 and January 2021; sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment, suspended for 4 years. He had separately paid settlement compensation to three named victims (700,000 yen to one, 500,000 yen each to two others).
