Before attacking, Earnest posted a manifesto that framed killing Jews as an act that would glorify God and embedded the claim in an articulated Reformed Christian theology. He also adopted white-supremacist and anti-Muslim propaganda. The religious pretext was his own antisemitic construction; clergy from his denomination and other Reformed pastors publicly rejected it as contrary to Christian doctrine.
