Hieromonk Meletiy (Tkachenko), director of the Svyato-Innokentyevskaya Orthodox gymnasium in Yakutsk, was convicted on 28 November 2018 over the abuse of minor pupils across seven years: of eighty-seven alleged episodes, forty-six were proven at trial. He received seventeen years in a strict-regime colony with a psychiatric referral, denied guilt and appealed; the Yakutsk eparchy announced his defrocking.
