Oaxaca state court; Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Oaxaca. Gerardo Silvestre Hernández, parish priest of San Ildefonso Villa Alta in Oaxaca's Sierra Norte, was sentenced in February 2017 to 16 years and 6 months for corruption of minors, having plied boys of his parish with alcohol and pornography before abusing them (2009–2010). Jailed since 2013, his sentence was confirmed by the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Oaxaca — widely reported as among the first convictions of its kind against a priest in Mexico.
