John O'Reilly, the Irish-born Legionary of Christ priest who served as chaplain of Santiago's Colegio Cumbres, was convicted on 11 November 2014 of repeated sexual abuse of a minor student between 2007 and 2012, receiving four years and a day of supervised liberty and perpetual disqualification from work with minors; he was acquitted on a second complainant's counts. Chile revoked his residency in 2015 and a Vatican canonical trial followed.
