    Chitungwiza Regional Magistrates' Court, Zimbabwe. Shepherd Matanda, a 41-year-old leader within the Johane Masowe apostolic sect who already had two wives aged 20 and 21, was convicted on two counts of statutory rape of a 15-year-old congregant, whom he had told he needed assistance picking pebbles used in prayer. He testified he intended to take her as a third wife. Magistrate Estere Chivasa sentenced him to three years' imprisonment, with one year conditionally suspended for five years, leaving two years to serve.
