   Sąd Okręgowy w Warszawie (Warsaw Regional Court), Poland. Sister Bernadetta (Agnieszka F.), director of a Sisters of Mercy of St Charles Borromeo children's care home in Zabrze, was convicted of psychological and physical mistreatment of children in her care and of complicity in enabling sexual assaults committed by older residents under her supervision, dating from the 1970s onward. She was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, suspended.

2. 2011-01-01 · appeal

   Warsaw appellate court, Poland. The appellate court increased Sister Bernadetta's sentence to two years' unconditional imprisonment, finding the suspended sentence inadequate. Enforcement was delayed roughly three years on health and age grounds before she began serving the sentence in 2014.
