High Court, Wellington, New Zealand. Bede Hampton, a 62-year-old former Marist Brother, was found guilty by a jury on eleven charges (ten of indecent assault and one of committing an indecent act) relating to two teenage boys who were boarders at St Joseph's College, a Catholic boarding school in Masterton, in the early 1970s. He additionally pleaded guilty to two further charges of indecent assault against one of the boys; a third charge was dismissed. He was sentenced on 17 December 2010 to two and a half years' imprisonment.
