    Higher Court, Ljubljana. Fr Franci Frantar was convicted of sexually abusing a girl for several years, beginning when she was in third grade, and sentenced to five years' imprisonment by the Ljubljana Higher Court in December 2008 — press describe him as the first Slovenian priest with a final prison sentence for child sexual abuse. He evaded custody for over a year using medical certificates before beginning his sentence in April 2010 at Dob prison; conditionally released in 2012. The Holy See laicised him in 2013.
