Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja, Nigeria. Segun Shina was originally charged with defilement under section 262 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which carries a potential life sentence. Following a plea bargain, the charge was amended to attempted sexual assault by penetration, to which he pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment, backdated to his 16 November 2018 arrest, barred from contact with the victim's family, and ordered registered as a sex offender.
