Sulushash Kazbaeva, a 51-year-old folk healer, was convicted on 7 October 2025 of large-scale fraud against 136 recognised victims — roughly 580 million tenge taken for 'treatment', her daughter's care and mosque construction, with loans signed in victims' names — and sentenced to six years and eight months, execution deferred two years for care of a disabled child, with restitution ordered.
