Ramlal alias Ramaaram, a tantrik with a prior criminal history, was convicted of luring a minor girl under a superstition/exorcism pretext, taking her to a forest to stage a fraudulent marriage ceremony, and sexually assaulting her. Special Judge Anoop Kumar Pathak sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh; an accomplice who assisted in staging the fraudulent marriage registration was sentenced to 10 years and a Rs 20,000 fine.
