The hearings concerned allegations that religious, mystical or ideological ritual language, spiritual authority and insular community structures were used to frighten, control and silence children during organized abuse. The Knesset research report describes these as reported mechanisms and a subject of official inquiry, not as proven facts about every allegation or any religious community.

This is an official-hearing and active-review record, not a criminal finding. The Knesset report states that authorities lack a settled definition, reliable prevalence data and verified case-level statistics; it also reports that several older files were referred for renewed review and that only a small number of potentially relevant files could be located. No unnamed person, rabbi, educator, official, Haredi or national-religious community, or Jewish institution is treated as culpable on testimony alone. WHAT HAS FOLLOWED, as of July 2026, and it remains entirely pre-adjudication: the committee chair requested that police meet with the State Prosecutor's Office to scope the phenomenon and produce an action plan, and called for cult-specific legislation, which has not been identified as enacted. Lahav 433, the national serious-crimes unit, has been reviewing closed cases going back more than a decade and identified only four possibly relevant files. NO INDICTMENT HAS BEEN FILED and no conviction exists in Israel for organised ritual abuse. Allegations involving one sitting and one former member of the Knesset remain under investigation and are not asserted here. In June 2026 the Gush Etzion Regional Council publicly acknowledged that ritualistic abuse had occurred in its communities — an institutional admission, not a judicial finding, naming no convicted individual. A structural fact recorded by the Knesset Research and Information Centre is worth stating on its own: Israel has no statutory definition of ritual or organised abuse, ministries keep no data on it, and police and prosecutors cannot reliably identify such files in their own systems.

2025-06-03 · first joint committee hearing

Knesset. A joint session of the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality (chaired by Pnina Tamano-Shata) and the Special Committee for Young Israelis (chaired by Naama Lazimi) sat on 3 June 2025, prompted by an investigative report in Israel Hayom that April. The committees received first-person testimony and agency responses concerning alleged organised ritual sexual abuse. A follow-up hearing was held on 27 July 2025 and a further hearing was reported in December 2025. The hearings did not adjudicate the allegations — these are testimony-receiving sessions, and no committee has issued findings of fact.
2025-07-27 · second joint committee hearing

Knesset. The committees received further testimony and questioned police and state representatives. The hearing did not adjudicate individual or network culpability.
2025-11-02 · active review reported to the Knesset

Israel Police and State Attorney's Office. The public-security minister told a Knesset member that Unit 105 was conducting investigative actions under prosecutorial supervision. No public charging or merits decision was reported in the source reviewed.
