Camnong Boa-Ubol, a monk who lived and worked at Wat Dhammaram Temple, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The assaults began in 1998, when the victim was 13 and he offered her paid work on the temple grounds, and continued for about two years; she became pregnant and gave birth as a result. He fled to another temple in Long Beach, California, before being arrested in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2012, roughly 13 years after the offenses began.
